What Is Exercise Intensity?
Whether you’re running, walking, or lifting weights, intensity relates to how hard a particular physical activity feels to you. So basically, exercise intensity determines the effort you need to put in. Usually, higher the intensity, higher the benefit you get out of an activity. However, intensity may not be the same for everyone. It depends on factors such as your current activity levels, if you are dealing with a current injury, or returning to exercise after a break. If you are a beginner, it is advised to start with lower intensity workouts and allow your body to slowly adapt to high intensity exercises over time. In fact, intensity can be applied to any and all forms of workout to make it challenging. In this video, coach Mustafa Jariwala talks about how to measure intensity, how you can moderate it, and how to use it in your workouts.
